What COVID19 has caused in the world is heart breaking and it has certainly increased vulnerability amongst the globally populations, with Children falling ill, losing their parents and guardians to the virus hence labeling many of them vulnerable without any parental care.
Rwanda’s first COVID19 case was confirmed on Saturday 14 March 2020 by the statement of the Ministry of Health. In response, the Rwanda Government adopted several measures to curb the coronavirus outbreak including; closing borders and offices, suspending all places of worship, closing schools, banning large gatherings such as weddings meetings and sporting events. Other preventive measures were also taken such as hand washing campaigns, staying at home as restricting all movements and closing all businesses except those dealing in food and other essential items.


The taken measures had side effects to the entire country but the most vulnerable families are much affected among them are Genesis and Gilgal foundation Sponsored Children. In the same response G&GF also intervened to support the most affected vulnerable hand to mouth communities of Gatsata Evangelical Church in Gatsata Sector-Gasabo District. A package comprised of different food items in 2 diverse lock-down phases.
But still, COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t stopped challenging the world’s and most vulnerable populations are hindered by access to adequate food and other essential needs.
